Nola at the Dog Park

Nola’s experience at Riverbend dog park.

Her she is playing with her pals at the dog park at Riverbend Park in Hancock County, Ohio.

Nola and Sterling are having a blast.

I try to give her opportunities to burn that energy off as often as possible. I’ve found that she is not only happier but that I am as well.

If you haven’t heard the mantra “A tired dog is a good dog.”, you need to take it to heart.

If your dog has expended a large amount of his energy, he’ll definitely be more easily handled. Obedience classes help as well. The interaction with other dogs and humans will work magic on your dog’s disposition.

You can see how much these pups love laying together. We’ve been bringing her at least once a week ever since the weather turned warmer.

Nola is a Golden Retriever, but she seems to have more energy than the other Goldens we have shared our home with. While her behavior has been good in the main, she does have some behaviors that are quite difficult to completely control.

When you see these dogs wrestle each other, sometimes you think they are fighting. They do like to play rough, especially the larger ones. Left to their own devices, they usually find out which ones like rough play, which ones like to run, and which ones like to chase a ball or toy.Pups wrestling at Riverbend park.

They’ll signal each other with their desires and very soon after a dog is brought into the pack, he or she will know who wants to play in the style he enjoys.

We have had zero problems with bad tempered dogs at the park. Their owners tend to be perfectly aware of their pet’s anti-social behavior and keep them away.

There is also a secondary area for smaller dogs, or dogs that don’t want to socialize to enjoy.

One of the things that gives me pleasure is watching the other dog owners standing about, chatting, with huge grins on their faces.

While dog parks are very beneficial in training your dog, you still need to walk your pup at least 35 minutes per day. I walk a whole lot more than that and I’ve lost 35 pounds. It’s good for both of us.
