Getting Ready for Nola the Golden Retriever Travels to Seattle
Golden Retriever travels to Seattle. I drove to Seattle to enjoy the scenic country through the Rockies. Driving through the plains states was interesting as well. It does require some preparation when you take a dog along but it’s not particularly difficult. I’ve often taken Nola on shorter trips so she knows how to behave in the car. You do need to pack for your pup in a similar way you would pack for your children. One big help is to take a good dog travel bag organizer packed with necessities, toys, those items that you may need.
I also have a decent seat cover for Nola. She likes to go swimming when it’s available and rather than keep her away from water I purchased some protection for my car seats. It certainly has been a big help in keeping my car’s value.
I’ve researched car seat protectors here.
An Evening in Fargo, North Dakota
North Dakota has a whole lot of scenery, not to mention the monuments and campgrounds. I hope to do this again soon. The last time we stayed in hotels. This time I hope to camp for much of the trip.
We stayed at a hotel in Fargo, North Dakota. A lovely city. Just an overnight but we thoroughly enjoyed it. The Red River runs through town and it had some park spaces they built along the river that were worth seeing.
Dignity of Earth and Sky
I wasn’t even aware this monument existed prior to this trip. We saw it from I90 as we were driving through. I tend to stop when I see something interesting, especially when I have Nola along.
I took the first photo with Nola posing in the foreground but I cut of a bit of her head.
I took a second pic that is better centered but as all dog lovers know, the pose is hard to keep.
This 50 foot tall statue is beautiful and definitely worth a stop. The statue was a $1 million gift from Norm and Eunabel McKie. You can find out more at TravelSouthDakota.com. The statue is on a hill overlooking the Missouri River.
The last photo above is of Nola walking on a trail near the Dignity of Earth and Sky statue with the Missouri River in the background.
Near Dignity is a marker honoring the Lewis and Clark expedition.
In the 21st century we forget that the Lewis and Clark expedition was so important to the westward expansion of the United States. Thomas Jefferson was president when the Louisiana purchase was executed.
Without it, we can’t even imagine how different the United States would look.
